Recycled Beach Debris and Tohoku Tsunami Driftage

6 m X 2.5 m

As part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, 15 volunteers collected 4 tons of marine debris and tsunami driftage from the West Coast Trail. They recycled what they could and transported some of the leftover material to the Vancouver Aquarium for use in a Xmas-themed display. With help from my son Jesse, and friend Vanya we used the material to construct this "Christmas tree" installation. Good friend and beachcomber extrodinaire John Anderson donated the fishing net which he found near his cabin in Washinton State. The "tree" was displayed over Christmas and will now form part of the Vancouver Aquarium's annual holiday display.
