I created these hanging floats as part of Aeriosa Dance Society's "Habitats and Camouflage" a collaborative dance performance and art installation by choreographer Julia Taffe and visual artist Sarah Fuller at North Chesterman Beach in Tofino. I am a huge fan of both Aeriosa and Sarah so was pretty stoked to be asked to create a marine debris installation as part of their performance. It was another magical opportunity I never would have dreamed of to work with such talented artists. A wonderful experience for me all round. It also brought me together with another shining star, Julia's partner, Colin Zacharias. Colin and I originally worked together as avalance technicians at Marmot Basin in Jasper in the early 1980's. Colin continues to work in the avalanche business, where he's recognized as one of North America's foremost experts. Neither one of us would have imagined back in the 80's that we'd reconnect 40 years later on this wonderful creative collaboration.
